The walls

Flash on the walls

Flash is a sheet of ready-to-tattoo designs, drawn and painted so you can pick one and get it that day. It’s how tattooing worked in the old shops, and it’s still how we work.

Our walls are covered in it: swallows, roses, daggers, panthers, eagles, anchors, ships, snakes, skulls, pin-ups and ladyheads. Classic designs that read from across the room and hold up for decades.

The flash is painted by our own artists and by other tattooers, some of them people we know personally.

Where it comes from

The lineage

American Traditional came out of the old port-town and boardwalk shops. Sailor Jerry in Honolulu and Bert Grimm on the Pike in Long Beach set the rules most of us still follow: bold black outlines, heavy black shading, a tight color palette, and designs simple enough to last.

Electric Street carries that Sailor Jerry lineage. Owner Josh Cabrera apprenticed in Miami and has 25+ years in the chair. He runs the shop the way it was taught to him: clean, classic and bold.

We also tattoo Japanese, tribal and fine line. Edson handles fine line and micro work.
